Horse mackerel can be found in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, from the Bay of Biscay to Senegal, and in the Mediterranean. It also has a strong presence in the coastal waters of the Indian-Pacific region. Grilled Piodi is very popular in D.R. Congo.
