Mbinzo are edible caterpillars and seasonal. Caterpillars are the larval stage of members of the order Lepidoptera. Both lepidopteran and symphytan larvae have eruciform body shapes.
Mbinzo are almost unavoidable in the gastronomy of the D.R. of Congo. There are found fresh during the harvest time as well as dried everyday in the marketplace.
These Insects have historically been used as supplementary food in developing countries.
